Cold, wet weather is set to plague the North Island with Metservice placing severe weather warnings for the East Coast.
Meteorologist Georgina Griffiths says the season is off to an unusually cold start, and the Gisborne/Hawkes Bay region are going to suffer from a lingering South-Easterly.
